Pregnancy Safe Herbs
While you are pregnant you have a long list of things you are not allowed to use or do, and herbs are no exception to that rule. HOWEVER, I want to encourage toy today that you do have herbal options even if it is a smaller list than normal.
One herb you may be familiar with is Red Raspberry Leaf
This herb is popular with most expectant mothers in the second and third trimesters.
This herb is rich in iron, has been known to ease labor pain, and increase milk production.
There are studies that suggest drinking this herb as a tea may help with the decrease of birth complications.
There are even some women who say they had less painful contractions when they drank Red Raspberry Tea.
Peppermint
Another great herb that you get to enjoy while pregnant is peppermint.
This is good for nausea, heartburn, it can help reduce headaches, and for some, it will promote relaxation.
This herb is rich in magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and selenium.
Oat & Oat Straw
New mamas tend to feel anxious or overwhelmed and that is one reason oat is a great herb to add to your rotation.
Oat has been known to help calm the nervous system, help with restlessness, it's anti-inflammatory, and improves blood flow.
This herb is rich in iron, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins A, C, and B.
Ginger
One of the cliches of pregnancy is morning sickness. The joke is, morning sickness does not only happen in the mornings but throughout the entire day and into the evening.
Ginger is great for calming nausea, increases serotonin, is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and it helps keep your immune system boosted.
This herb is rich in calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, iron, zinc, and copper
Dandelion
Pregnancy is one time in your life you have to really look after yourself and a common side effect of pregnancy is anemia. This herb is one for you mamas who need help keeping your iron levels regulated!
Dandelion is known to support digestion, lactation, boosts the immune system, and liver support.
This herb is rich in potassium, calcium, magnesium, vitamins A, C, D, and B, and iron.
