2022 Resolutions?

We are officially 3 days into 2022 and it is time for me to officially write out the goals / hopes for 2022 that have been rolling around in my head.

I have been thinking a lot of the things I want to accomplish for this new year and it always comes down to 4-5 common themes that I am going to share now to keep me accountable to accomplish them.

  1. Spend more time away from electronics

As a culture, we spend more time talking to people through a computer / phone screen than we ever do in real life. This year I not only want to spend more time away from electronics, but also more quality time with people and that only happens when the phones are put away and genuine connections are made. Obviously this will take a little brain reprogramming and that starts with baby steps -- like re-learning how to go to the restroom without a phone -- but I am determined to not be addicted to my phone / computer anymore!

2. Focus more on my health

For some, this is a very broad goal but I broken this down into mini goals. Each month I plan on walking a little further to get in more steps that way by the end of 2022 I will be walking at least 20000 steps a day. This is a lofty goal so I am starting small with a minimum of 4000 steps for the month of January and then adding 2000 steps per month to finally reach my goal. This may mean getting out and walking 10 minutes a day, or taking a run on the treadmill when it's too cold out, either way I plan on reaching 20000 by the end of this year.

3. Waste Less Food

There are a few ways that I plan on accomplishing this goal and I have already started it! The month of January my mother and I have chosen to do something called "NO Buy January". This simply means that instead of going to the grocery store this month, we will be eating out of our frozen / canned foods to make sure we are keeping fresh food and reducing in food waste.

4. Learn Continuously

The older I get the more I realize that I love learning and college really was one of my favorite times in my life, so with that in mind, I have decided that I will take at least one course a month to continuously grow and learn in my field (teaching English as a second language) and the field of naturopathic (holistic) medicine.

I am sure I have other goals for the year and probably some that haven't crossed my mind yet, but for the most part all of my goals fall into one of these four categories. Some of the goals I have that fall into each category include; reading my bible through this year, learn how to can / garden, read 80 books this year -- in 2021 I read 75 -- and I want to record more of the memories / times with loved ones so at the end of the year I can watch back what happened throughout it rather than just have photographs.

I would love to know what a few of Your goals / intentions for this year are!
